Kimberly Rakha – APNP

Hello. My name is Kimberly Rakha. I’m a family medicine nurse practitioner with a passion in serving the mental health and SUDs (substance use disorders) needs of the community. I obtained my first professional degree in Fine Arts, receiving a Bachelors in Fine Arts degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I then obtained my Bachelors of Science in Nursing, with honors, from the Milwaukee School of Engineering, followed by my Masters of Science in Nursing, Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner degree, with honors, from Simmons University.

I believe in providing healthcare with an open-minded, non-judgmental, inclusive, and empathic approach, following the biopsychosocial model of care, which means, treating the client holistically by addressing the biological, psychological, and social aspects of health. I value honest and therapeutic communication. I like to spend a good amount of time actively listening to the client’s concerns, to gain a full understanding of what their needs are, and to create a care plan that is relevant, encouraging, and realistic for the client. The client and I will work in a collaborative agreement, where the client is a co-creator in their care plan and equally responsible for their health and well-being. The purpose here is to empower the client. I also believe in the power of social support. In addition to prescribed treatments, any client seeking care with me we will have a goal of connecting to social support outlets in the community. It’s important for us to know that no one is alone on this journey of healing and resolution, and that help, and a sense of community, is always available to us.
